Have you ever thought, “what if I ditched the whole plan I have set for my wedding right now and just… eloped?” That’s what Derek and Kelsey did!

Mid-way through planning their 200-person Indiana wedding, they sat down and realized “we’re not having fun planning this and it’s not what we want to do for our wedding.” So they spontaneously switched from their plans to having an intimate elopement in Chicago! They both love Chicago and enjoy heading back there together and couldn’t imagine a better place to elope.

We switched plans, booked new hotels, came up with a new plan, and then there we were in Chicago. Derek and Kelsey had an intimate wedding with only about 10 people witnessing this life-changing event. The emotions were strong with this group, and it was such an honor to witness. Seeing Kelsey’s mom wanting to record every second as her dad wrapped his arm around his wife, the best friend shedding a tear, and the kiddos just having their childish fun in the park.

Opting for an intimate ceremony in Chicago then just having a small dinner with friends at their favorite restaurant felt like such a delicate, special way to share this grand moment.
